HAPPY SPRING BREAK!

Important Information

LEARNING UPDATES
NEW- learning updates will now be released digitally on My Ed. They are no longer going to be coming home in paper copy. The Ministry of Education is asking all schools to move in this direction. An email was sent home this week explaining to parents how to access MyEd and the learning updates.
IMPORTANT: please try to log on this week if you have not yet done so to ensure that your login works. If you try and login on Friday and it doesn’t work, there will be nobody to support you as we are on Spring Break until March 31.

FIELD TRIP POLICIES
There have been a few parent drivers who’ve stopped for treats after field trips with their students. However, this is not permitted due to student health and safety concerns, and it creates problems for teachers when some students return with treats or discuss them, while others don’t have any. Please refrain from purchasing treats for students in your groups.

UNITED DAY
This next United Day will be a St. Patrick’s themed day, with proceeds going to Development and Peace, a Catholic organization that provides humanitarian aid to places in the world that need it most right now. Currently a lot of the aid is going to the Middle East, and as a school community we would love to help out with this. Please consider a donation, and as always a dollar for popcorn.

SPELLING BEE
We will host the Spelling Bee finals on Friday at 12:00pm in the gym. The winner will move on to the CISVA finals on April 27th at Holy Cross Elementary School in Burnaby. Parents of spelling bee contestants are welcome to attend!

PARENT PARTICIPATION UPDATE
Families, please check your junk folders. Email reminders regarding low volunteer hours have been sent. The deadline to complete all hours is May 31, 2026. Please be proactive and sign up for tasks to ensure you are on track to meet your required hours.

If you cannot find a task that works with your schedule, please reach out to your child’s teacher, the school administrator, or the parish office with ideas on how you can contribute and earn hours.

If you are unable to attend a volunteer shift, please remove yourself from the task as soon as possible so another family may sign up. If it is less than 24 hours’ notice, please email the Parent Participation Coordinator.

Failure to report an absence will result in a $25 no-show fee per missed shift. After three no-shows, families will be removed from the program and required to pay out the remaining hours at $30 per regular hour and $60 per maintenance hour.
