Important Information

1) UNITED DAY:
Our united day this month is Twins Day! Students can dress as twins with one, two , three, or as many friends as they want. We ask that no student is excluded from a group. The proceeds from this united day will go to a CCS Community fundraiser. We have many people in our community (past and present) who are dealing with very challenging health situations and are in great need of support. The funds raised from this collection will go towards gift cards, groceries, and supplies to help us do a meal train. These health challenges have greatly impacted these families, and as a school community we want to help. Any small donation is appreciated!

2) LOST AND FOUND:
Please see items at the bottom of the Feed for this week’s items

3) BADMINTON:
Congratulations to our badminton doubles and mixed doubles teams- a special shout out to Icarus and Jessie who placed 2nd!

4) SOCCER AND SPELLING BEE:
Good luck to our senior girls soccer team who will be paying in the CISVA soccer finals, and to Sophia Tran, who will be representing our school at the CISVA spelling bee finals- GO UNITED!

5) REMINDER: AGM
Our AGM is scheduled for May 6 at 6:00pm. Please ensure that at least one parent attends this evening. Lots of important information, including staffing updates for next year will be shared. There will be a wine draw for everyone in attendance! Please note that slides WILL NOT be shared, as we are encouraging all parents to attend.

6) REMINDER: PARENT EVENING- MAY 21
We will be having our annual Parent Evening on May 21 at 6:30pm. This year we will be We’re excited to screen the award-winning documentary “Screenagers: Elementary School Edition” this year. Two years ago, we screened the original documentary, and since then, they’ve released a specific version tailored for elementary schools. Please make every effort to attend and watch this important documentary that delves into the challenges families face in today’s digital age. We invested a significant amount of money in obtaining the licensing for this screening because we believe it’s crucial for parents to be informed about their children’s digital habits. We’re witnessing an alarming rise in anxiety, depression, and other issues stemming from excessive social media use.

7) REMINDER: MITE BOXES
Please remember to return your mite boxes to school. Hopefully our students were able to donate some change for the seminarians!

8) PARENT PARTICIPATION:
Families, the deadline to finish parent participation hours is fast approaching!  Hours are due by May 31st, 2025. The requirement is 40 hours, 6 of which must be maintenance hours.  Please note maintenance hours are different from regular hours. You must sign up and attend a work bee or complete other maintenance related tasks in order to fulfill this requirement.

If you are unable to make a volunteer shift, remove yourself from the task with as much notice as possible.  If there is more than 24 hours notice, the task can be reposted and hopefully a replacement can be found .  If there is less than 24 hours notice, email the parent participation coordinator.  Failure to report an absence will result in a no show fee of $25 per missed shift.  Three no shows, and the family will be removed from the program and be required to pay out the remaining hours at the cost of $30 per missed regular hour and $60 per missed maintenance hour.
