Important Information
1) REMINDER: PARENT EVENING- MAY 21
We will be having our annual Parent Evening on May 21 at 6:30pm. This year we will be We’re excited to screen the award-winning documentary “Screenagers: Elementary School Edition” this year. Two years ago, we screened the original documentary, and since then, they’ve released a specific version tailored for elementary schools. Please make every effort to attend and watch this important documentary that delves into the challenges families face in today’s digital age. We invested a significant amount of money in obtaining the licensing for this screening because we believe it’s crucial for parents to be informed about their children’s digital habits. We’re witnessing an alarming rise in anxiety, depression, and other issues stemming from excessive social media use. Although geared towards Gr. 4-7 parents all parents are welcome! Childcare will be available this evening.
2) SPRING CONCERT
May 27th- 1:00pm- Matinee, 6:00pm- Evening Show! Doors will open 30 minutes prior to show. There will be a 50/50 draw, a raffle for a brand new acoustic guitar from Long and McQuade, along with an auction for White caps tickets and Captain’s Oven Pizza gift card! Stay tuned for more information.
3) LOST AND FOUND
Please see below for this week’s lost and found items
4) STREET PARKING ON 59 AVE
Starting May 20, the portion of 59 Ave in front of the parish center all the way to the parking lot exit will be closed off due to the construction of the townhouse development. Please give yourself a bit of extra time after school to find parking.
5) CROSSWALK
Please pay attention to the crossing guard’s insructions when you are at the crosswalk. We have noticed that some students and parents are choosing to walk when the crossing guard has asked them to stop. It is important that everyone watches closely so that we don’t have any accidents.
6) MISSIONS WEEK 2025
Every year we hold a Missions Week to encourage awareness of Missionaries and their work. In particular we focus on the work of Audrey Burm and Help Burkina Faso Canada. Over the last 6 years our students have raised over $10,000 and have contributed to building a school, kitchen, water wells, classroom furniture and supplies and sports equipment for the children of Pousga in Burkina Faso. We encourage you to take a few minutes with your children and go to the website: www.helpburkinafasocanada.com The website has many pictures of the projects your children have supported as well as the children who have benefited.
This year Missions Week is June 9th - 13th. Our project is to hold a Book Sale. We are asking all of our students to donate their used books to our sale. During Missions Week they will be invited to buy “new” books - the proceeds of which will all go to Help Burkina Faso Canada. We are collecting donated books starting May 20th until June 6th. Please work with your children to sort out suitable books in good condition and send them to school (in a bag).
Thank you for your ongoing support of our Missionary work at CCS.
God Bless
Mrs. Krammer
