Safer Schools Together Social Media Evening on May 30 @ 6:00pm:
I cannot stress enough the importance of this evening for parents, particularly those in intermediate grades. If your child owns or has access to a personal electronic device or computer (which is almost every child) this night is for you! The information that you will gain will be invaluable in helping to understand what your child(ren) are susceptible to and what things they know, and most importantly in protecting them from the many dangers with social media and internet. Please prioritize this event! I am trying to organize childcare for this evening if I can find the people to do it.
PEC Elections:
Nominations close May 13th. If you are interested in running please get a nomination form from the parish office. Elections (if needed) will be May 25/26.
Kids for Christ:
May 24th Kids for Christ RSVP form
Cambridge Uniforms:
Free shipping on orders over $250 (before tax) between now and June 15th. Back to school orders should be placed by June 15th to ensure that they are ready in time for next school year.
Missions Week:
Next week students will take in some fun “bootcamp” activities that recreate what life is like for people in third world countries. We are encouraging students to do some chores and raise $5. Money will be collected May 13 and 14. Thank you in advance for your support in our Missions Week!
Congratulations:
Congratulations to Mr. Waweru, Mrs. Easley and Taylor in Gr. 7 who received their First Communion today at our school mass! What a blessing to welcome these three wonderful individuals into our faith!
Multicultural Day:
On May 21 we will be celebrating Multicultural Day here at CCS. We will be having an assembly in the afternoon and would like to put together a multicultural video to show. We are inviting any students and families who would like to submit a short 30 second video that highlights a dance, some words, a tradition, a food from their country to share with everyone. The video should not be longer than 30 seconds and can be emailed to cheah@cisva.bc.ca. Deadline for submission is May 13.
Parent Participation Update:
Families, only three weeks left to complete your parent participation hours. The requirement of 34 regular hours and 6 maintenance hours for a total of 40 hours are due by May 31, 2024.
The track coaches are in urgent need of volunteers for the Knights of Columbus track meet on May 13th. This coming up Monday. Only half of the volunteer posts have been filled. Please consider volunteering even if you have already completed your hours. Sign up today!
If you are unable to attend a volunteer shift, kindly remove yourself from the task with as much notice as possible. If there is more than 24 hours notice, the task can be reposted and hopefully a replacement can be found . If there is less than 24 hours notice, email the parent participation coordinator. Failure to report an absence will result in a no show fee of $25 per missed shift. Three no shows, and the family will be removed from the program and will have to pay out the remaining hours at the cost of $30 per missed regular hour and $60 per missed maintenance hour.
