Multicultural Day:
On May 21 we will be celebrating Multicultural Day here at CCS. We will be having an assembly in the afternoon and would like to put together a multicultural video to show. We are inviting any students and families who would like to submit a short 30 second video that highlights a dance, some words, a tradition, a food from their country to share with everyone. The video should not be longer than 30 seconds and can be emailed to cheah@cisva.bc.ca. Deadline for submission is May 13.

Choral Festival:
On Thursday, May 2nd, the CCS Choir attended the first annual CISVA Elementary School Choral Festival at St. Matthew's Parish. It was an amazing day of singing, prayer, connecting with other elementary school choirs, and incredible performances by the young students from St. Patrick's, OLGC, CCS, Star of the Sea, St. Matthew, St. Bernadette, and Holy Cross secondary school choirs.  Working in collaboration with Sanctuary Mental Health Ministries, the choirs learned a song on the topic of mental health and listened to a talk from their representative.  Also, the choir members received a special video message from Matt Maher himself!  The day was highlighted by a group performance from all the schools together!  We look forward to next year's event! PLease see link for resources and ways to support. https://sanctuarymentalhealth.org/

Parent Participation Update:

Families, four weeks left to complete parent participation hours before the deadline!  The requirement of 34 regular hours and 6 maintenance hours for a total of 40 hours are due by May 31, 2024. There are plenty of volunteer opportunities during the school week and on weekends to accommodate all schedules.

Please consider volunteering even if you have completed your hours. Specifically, Track and field requires more volunteers to help at practices and track meets in order for our students to have a successful season.

If you are unable to attend a volunteer shift, kindly remove yourself from the task with as much notice as possible.  If there is more than 24 hours notice, the task can be reposted and hopefully a replacement can be found .  If there is less than 24 hours notice, email the parent participation coordinator.  Failure to report an absence will result in a no show fee of $25 per missed shift.  Three no shows, and the family will be removed from the program and will have to pay out the remaining hours at the cost of $30 per missed regular hour and $60 per missed maintenance hour.

Ad hoc requests are tasks that you did not sign up for on the website or a task that took longer than expected.  Please submit these within one month of completion for approval. Anything submitted beyond that date, and approval is at the discretion of the coordinator.
