June 9th First Communion Update

Dear Parents of First Communion Students,

Information regarding the celebration of First Communion was sent home late last week. The official letter from Precious Blood Parish can be found by clicking here.

I understand that some families are saddened by the decision to host smaller celebrations now, rather than as a whole class and community sometime in the future. The good news is that you do have a choice. If you do not wish for your child to celebrate their First Communion on their assigned date in the coming weeks, you may opt to celebrate at any Mass with your entire family.

If you wish to come to a different Mass to celebrate with your entire family, be it on a Sunday or a weekday, please let your classroom teacher know and call the Parish Office ahead of time to make sure there is space. We are limited to only 50 people at Mass at a time. Most weekday Masses and Saturday morning Masses would have sufficient space for you to bring your entire family.

There will still be a few people who wish we could handle the situation differently. I have been asked “Why not wait until the Fall like other parishes?” If this pandemic has taught me anything, it is that we cannot predict what is going to happen. It is very possible that waiting until the Fall will have the same result, but will deprive our children of months of having had the opportunity to share more deeply in God’s grace through the Sacrament of the Eucharist. Giving them that opportunity in a safe and timely manner is our number one priority.

Please be assured of my continued prayers.

Sincerely,

Mr. Jason Borkowski

Principal
